Commissions

A commissioning service is available. It allows the client the option of having an item made in a particular wood or to a specific size for some of our products. It can mean having a piece by a particular maker, a special personal or corporate gift or a family heirloom. It can be the creation of bespoke furniture giving an insight into the creative processes involved whilst incorporating individuality.

The client's input is crucial and an initial discussion will define exactly what is required. We will work with the client, advising and guiding as necessary and then with the craftsman to produce a beautiful piece of work to the highest standards.

In the case of a piece of furniture a sketch will usually be produced illustrating the design and proportions of the commission. Some indication of colour depicting wood choice / choices will be given along with an estimate for the work. At this stage alterations to the design or size are possible if required.

Once the client has agreed the design and estimate and paid a deposit (usually twenty-five per cent of the total cost) we will begin the production process. On confirmation of an order the possible timescale would be discussed with the client. The timing for a commission varies from maker to maker; as everything is hand made carefully patience is appreciated.
